Mauritius Market Watch | May 26th 2015: Mauritius equity market ended the session in negative territory
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):-Mauritius equity market indices ended the session in negative territory. The SAMDEX lost 0.24% to 1967.91 points and the SEM-10 lost 0.31% to 374.59 points. The market capitalization ended the trading session at MUR 218.822 billion.
Looking at the market activity, total market turnover amounted to MUR 81.6 million mainly geared towards SBM Holdings and MCB Group which accounted for 84.9% of total market turnover. SBM Holdings traded on its last cum today and went down by 1.1% to MUR 0.94 on a total volume of 44.6 million shares where there were several crosses. Likewise, MCB Group lost 0.2% to MUR 204.25 at which price it saw a cross of 65,000 shares. Total volume on MCB Group amounted to 133,000 shares. On the insurance counter Mauritius Union Assurance went down to MUR 76.00, losing 2.6%. The only mover among the commerce counter was ENL Commercial which lost 0.2% to reach MUR 22.35 on only 100 shares.
On the industry counter, the only mover was United Basalt Products which lost 1.1% to reach MUR 89.00 on total volume of 330 shares. Amongst the hotel counter LUX Island Resorts experienced an increase of 0.8% to MUR 61.50 on a volume of 14,100 shares. New Mauritius Hotels traded flat at MUR 63.00 at which price it witnessed two crosses of 35,000 and 15,000. While Lottotech maintained a downward trend by losing 2.3% to MUR 5.20 on a volume of 42,900 shares exchanged. But ASL Mauritius gained 0.2% to MUR 40.10 and saw 200 shares traded. In the same mood, Air Mauritius rose by 1.4% to close at MUR 11.15 on only 200 shares traded.
On the investment counter both Alteo and Rogers closed unchanged at MUR 31.25 and MUR 30.20 respectively. ENL Land (P) was the top performer of the session gaining 4.7% to close at MUR 45.00 on 5,500 shares traded and Omnicane went up by 1.4% to close at MUR 72.00 on 400 shares traded.
On the DEM, the index went up by 0.36% to reach 205.91 points. Market turnover amounted to MUR 9.5 million mainly geared towards Ciel Textile, United investment Limited and Livestock Feed Limited (O) which altogether accounted for 89.1% of total market turnover. Ciel Textile went up by 2.5% to end at MUR 39.00 on 102,500 shares traded. United investment Limited was the top performer reaching MUR 12.50 (+4.2%) on 236,600 shares. Livestock Feed Limited traded flat MUR 25.50 on a total volume of 64,300 shares exchanged.
