Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —The Casablanca Stock Exchange equity trading continued on the upward trends at end of today’s trading session. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) surged by 0.22 percent to end at 9,104.41 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.36 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 458.300 billion (an increase of MAD 653 million or US$67.5 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 457.647 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 34.809 million compared to MAD 166.520 million recorded at the previous trading session.
In the same positive mood, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,412.48 points (added 0.24 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index surged by 0.56 percent to close at 7,777.64 points (-11.82 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index edged up by 0.45 percent to close at 7,610.33 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.59 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Real Estate, Materials & Computer Services and Banks sector indices surged by 1.71 percent, 0.96 percent and 0.67 percent respectively. On the other hand, Distributors sector index (dropped 3.05 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 1.47 percent), Chemicals sector index (dipped by 2.25 percent to end at -49.57 percent year-to-date return) and Oil & Gas sector index (lost 1.04 percent to end at 7,949.42 levels).
Looking at the market price gainers and losers, the gainers’ were ALLIANCES advanced by 9.99 percent to close at MAD 43.05 and ZELLIDJA S.A added 6.00 percent to trade at MAD 137.00. RES DAR SAADA also grew by 5.84 percent or MAD 8.25 with a closing price of MAD 149.45 as well as COLORADO jumped by 3.82 percent to end at MAD 76.65. DISWAY Morocco added by 3.54 percent or MAD 7.50 to trade at MAD 219.50.
In the negative zone, AUTO NEJMA and AUTO HALL slid by 6.00 percent (to settle at MAD 1,662.00) and slacked by 5.69 percent (to trade at MAD 96.20) respectively. INVOLYS and TOTAL MAROC also sagged by 3.38 percent (with a closing price of MAD 113.05) and dipped by 3.36 percent (to settle at MAD 570.20) respectively. Also, STROC INDUSTRIE dropped 3.29 percent to settle at MAD 43.52.
