Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — on Wednesday, Moroccan equity trading closed on a positive sentiment both indices and market capitalization ended higher. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) added 0.10 percent to end at 9,113.23 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.27 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 459.420 billion (an increase of MAD 1.12 billion or US$116 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 458.300 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 64.159 million compared to MAD 34.809 million recorded at the previous trading session.
At the same time, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,421.67 points (gained 0.12 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index marginally surged by 0.02 percent to close at 7,779.49 points (-11.80 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index edged down by 0.06 percent to close at 7,605.54 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.65 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Holdings Companies, Electricity and Distributors sector indices advanced by 5.52 percent, 2.09 percent and 1.53 percent respectively. On the other hand, Forestry & Paper sector index (dropped 5.97 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -49.59 percent), Transport sector index (dipped by 4.66 percent to end at 16.67 percent year-to-date return) and Chemicals sector index (lost 2.73 percent to end at 991.14 levels).
Looking at the market price movers and shakers, the movers were STROC INDUSTRIE added 6.00 percent to close at MAD 46.13 and ZELLIDJA S.A grew by 5.99 percent to trade at MAD 145.20. INVOLYS also grew by 5.97 percent or MAD 6.75 with a closing price of MAD 119.80 as well as DELTA Holdings jumped by 5.51 percent to end at MAD 23.74. STROC NORD AFRIQUE advanced by 4.82 percent or MAD 1.06 to trade at MAD 23.06.
In the negative zone, JET CONTRACTORS and CTM slumped by 6.00 percent (to settle at MAD 169.20) and sagged by 5.99 percent (to trade at MAD 393.90) respectively. MED PAPER and AUTO NEJMA also sagged by 5.97 percent (with a closing price of MAD 14.03) and dipped by 5.96 percent (to settle at MAD 1,563.00) respectively. Also, S.M. MONETIQUE slipped 5.75 percent to settle at MAD 183.50.
