Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —The bear ruled at the Morocco equity markets, as a result the Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) sagged by 0.60 percent to close at 8,993.97 points (with a year-to-date performance to -6.51 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 452.840 billion (a decrease of MAD 2.5 billion or US$260 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 455.645 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 67.043 million compared to MAD 55.332 million recorded at previous trading session.
In the same mood, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,341.88 points (sagged by 0.63 percent compared to previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index lost 0.86 percent to close at 7,786.62 points (-11.72 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index slashed by 0.70 percent to end at 7,535.73 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -6.52 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Holding Companies, Food Producers & Processors and Mining sector indices rose by 3.43 percent, 0.18 percent and 0.06 percent respectively. On the losers’ side, Chemicals sector index (lost 4.33 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -50.87 percent), Real Estate sector index (sagged by 2.35 percent to end at -47.24 percent year-to-date return) and Utilities sector index (crashed by 2.14 percent to end at 1,791.67 levels).
From the winners and losers viewpoint, the top winners’ were REBAB Company added 5.97 percent to close at MAD 134.80 and DELTA HOLDING advanced by 3.52 percent to settle at MAD 24.99. DARI COUSPATE also grew by 3.24 percent or MAD 33.00 with closing price of MAD 1,050.00 as well as M2M Group jumped by 2.18 percent to end at MAD 229.90. On the laggards side, STROC INDUSTRIE and ALLIANCE plummeted by 10.00 percent (to settle at MAD 48.60) and sagged by 8.29 percent (to trade at MAD 29.98) respectively. EQDOM and MAGHREB OXYGENE also plummeted by 5.84 percent (with closing price of MAD 1,000) and dropped 4.85 percent (to settle at MAD 100.00) respectively.
