Morocco Equity Markets | 11 Nov 2015: Bull appears on the Moroccan equity markets, investors gains US$253 million
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —Casablanca Stock Exchange equity trading session backed to bullish mood after stayed in the bearish sentiment for just a day. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) advanced by 0.61 percent to close at 9,268.27 points (with a year-to-date performance to -4.24 percent). The equity market capitalization closed at MAD 466.252 billion (an increase of MAD 2.45 million or US$253 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 463.801 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 87.625 million relatively to MAD 110.304 million recorded at the previous trading session.
Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,556.80 points (added 0.59 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index grew by 0.18 percent to close at 7,952.18 points (-9.85 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index rose by 0.52 percent to close at 7,770.80 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -3.60 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Construction & Building Materials, Oil & Gas and Distributors sector indices surged by 2.41 percent, 1.82 percent and 1.24 percent respectively. On the other hand, Chemicals sector index (dipped by 1.52 percent to end the year-to-date performance at -49.80 percent), Forestry & Paper sector index (fell by 0.69 percent to end at -48.62 percent year-to-date return) and Utilities sector index (sagged by 0.47 percent to end at 1,770.83 levels).
Looking at the market price gainers and losers, the gainers were M2M Group grew by 5.99 percent to end at MAD 246.65 and STROC INDUSTRIE added 5.49 percent to trade at MAD 53.80. REBAB COMPANY also gained 3.94 percent or MAD 5.50 with a closing price of MAD 145.00 as well as LAFARGE CIMENTS jumped by 3.70 percent to end at MAD 1,710.00. AFRIQUIA GAZ surged by 3.24 percent or MAD 72.00 to settle at MAD 2,297.00.
In the red zone, ZELLIDJA S.A and STOKVIS NORD AFRIQUE slumped by 5.99 percent (to settle at MAD 136.50) and sagged by 3.64 percent (to trade at MAD 22.50) respectively. ALLIANCES and SNEP also plummeted by 2.24 percent (with a closing price of MAD 48.08) and slid by 2.24 percent (to settle at MAD 103.00) respectively. Also, EQDOM lost 1.00 percent to settle at MAD 990.
