Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —Casablanca Stock Exchange equity trading session ended in red. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) sagged by 0.33 percent to close at 9,237.97 points (with a year-to-date performance to -3.97 percent). The equity market capitalization closed at MAD 465.350 billion (an increase of MAD 1.28 million or US$131 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 466.252 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 233.870 million relatively to MAD 87.625 million recorded at the previous trading session.
Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,529.53 points (lost 0.35 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index fell by 0.99 percent to close at 7,873.81 points (-10.73 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index sagged by 0.39 percent to close at 7,740.87 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -3.97 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Electrical & Electronic Equipment, Forestry & Paper and Insurance sector indices added 2.38 percent, 1.40 percent and 0.82 percent respectively. On the other hand, Holding Companies sector index (dipped by 3.23 percent to end the year-to-date performance at -12.33 percent), Real Estate sector index (fell by 2.70 percent to end at -35.26 percent year-to-date return) and Construction & Building Materials sector index (slid by 1.76 percent to end at 15,761.74 levels).
Looking at the market price gainers and losers, the gainers were ZELLIDJA SA grew by 5.97 percent to end at MAD 144.65 and M2M Group surged by 5.37 percent to trade at MAD 259.90. NEXANS MAROC also soared by 2.38 percent or MAD 3.45 with a closing price of MAD 148.45 as well as STOKVIS NORD AFRIQUE jumped by 2.22 percent to end at MAD 23.000. AUTO HALL surged by 1.55 percent or MAD 1.50 to settle at MAD 90.00.
In the red zone, ALLIANCES and STROC INDUSTRIE slumped by 5.99 percent (to settle at MAD 45.20) and slumped by 5.99 percent (to trade at MAD 50.58) respectively. HOLCIM MAROC and DELTA HOLDING also plunged by 5.98 percent (with a closing price of MAD 1,824.00) and slid by 3.38 percent (to settle at MAD 25.99) respectively. Also, RES DAR SAADA lost 2.66 percent to settle at MAD 4.05.
