Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —The bullish trends subdued at the end of the Tuesday’s trading session, with equity indices and market capitalization. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) slightly faltered by 0.02 percent to end at 9,029.05 points (with a year-to-date performance to -6.14 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 454.870 billion (a decrease of MAD 20 million or US$2.1 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 454.890 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 16.690 million compared to MAD 27.182 million recorded at the previous trading session.
In the same negative sentiment, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,375.72 points (sagged by 0.02 percent compared to previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index declined by 0.05 percent to close at 7,887.47 points (-10.58 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index grew by 0.17 percent to end at 7,612.15 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.57 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Real Estates, Leisures & Hotels and Engineering & Equipment sector indices added 2.81 percent, 1.99 percent, and 1.66 percent respectively. On the other hand, Electrical & Electronic sector index (dipped by 2.76 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -18.26 percent), Utility sector index (plummeted by 1.76 percent to end at 11.17 percent year-to-date return) and Construction & Building sector index (fell by 1.59 percent to end at 15,979.25 levels).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were STROC INDUSTRIE grew by 10.00 percent to close at MAD 44.44 and RES DAR SAADA added 5.99 percent to end at MAD 144.25. COLORADO also surged by 5.99 percent or MAD 4.32 with a closing price of MAD 76.47 as well as M2M Group advanced by 5.86 percent to end at MAD 216.00.
On the hand, MICRODATA and HOLCIM sagged by 6.91 percent (to settle at MAD 105.00) and plunged by 4.99 percent (to trade at MAD 2,000) respectively. CIMENTS MAROC and IB MAROC.COM also decreased by 4.98 percent (with a closing price of MAD 59.00) and dipped by 3.47 percent (to settle at MAD 103.00) respectively.
