Morocco Equity Markets | 26 Nov 2015: Moroccan equity indices down and investors lose MAD 247 million …
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — Casablanca Stock Exchange witnessed negative return at the end of Thursday’s equity trading session. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) went down 0.15 percent to end at 9,108.93 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.31 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 458.810 billion (a fall of MAD 247 million or US$28 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 459.057). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 58.051 million relatively to the previous total traded value of MAD 32.736 million.
The Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,435.50 points (fell by 0.03 percent relatively to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index gained 0.15 percent to close at 7,819.01 points (-11.36 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index declined by 0.24 percent to end at 7,615.03 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.53 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Mining, Insurance and Distributors sector indices grew by 2.28 percent, 2.11 percent, and 1.90 percent respectively. On the laggards’ side, Chemicals sector index (sagged by 4.22 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -50.41 percent), Oil & Gas sector index (lost 2.98 percent to end at -2.94 percent year-to-date return) and Holding Companies sector index (dropped 2.19 percent to end at 3,759.47 levels).
Looking at the market price advancers and decliners, the top advancers’ were OULMES added 5.99 percent to end at MAD 923.20 and MANAGEM grew by 5.58 percent to settle at MAD 908.00. LABEL VIE advanced by 5.31 percent or MAD 60.00 with a closing price of MAD 1,190.00 and STROC INDUSTRIE climbed by 4.83 percent to end at MAD 44.50. ATLANTA surged by 3.27 percent to close at MAD 56.80.
On the decliners’ team, AFRIQUIA GAZ and SNEP dropped 5.97 percent (to close at MAD 2,285) and plunged by 5.51 percent (to trade at MAD 100.40) respectively. CDM and REALIS MECANIQUES slumped by 2.35 percent (with a closing price of MAD 415.00) and dropped 2.30 percent (to end at MAD 170) respectively. M2M Group sagged by 2.26 percent to end at MAD 259.90.
