Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —The bull opened the week, the Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) soared by 0.14 percent to end at 9,018.66 points (with a year-to-date performance to -6.25 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 454.897 billion (an increase of MAD 643 million or US$68 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 452.254 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 30.192 million compared to MAD 31.977 million recorded at the previous trading session.
Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,370.50 points (added 0.13 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index lost 2.09 percent to close at 7,689.54 points (-12.82 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index waned by 0.16 percent to end at 7,578.25 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.99 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Pharmaceutic Industry, Forestry & Paper and Chemicals sector indices increased by 4.78 percent, 4.74 percent and 3.13 percent respectively. On the other hand, Distributors sector index (sagged by 2.22 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 2.55 percent), Food Producers & Processors sector index (fell by 1.27 percent to end at -0.03 percent year-to-date return) and Mining sector index (sagged by 0.96 percent to end at 18,396.07 levels).
Looking at the market price gainers and losers, the gainers’ were SONASID advanced by 5.97 percent to end at MAD 583.90 and SOTHEMA went up by 5.95 percent to trade at MAD 1,299.00. S.M. MONETIQUE also surged by 5.00 percent or MAD 9.00 with a closing price of MAD 189.00 as well as MED PAPER rose by 4.74 percent to end at MAD 15.48. MICRODATA grew by 4.71 percent or MAD 0.70 to trade at MAD 109.95.
In the red region, LABEL VIE and COLORADO slacked by 6.00 percent (to settle at MAD 1,128.00) and lost 4.82 percent (to trade at MAD 73.10) respectively. MINIERE TOUISSIT and BMCI Group also slumped by 3.52 percent (with a closing price of MAD 1,070.00) and skid by 2.57 percent (to settle at MAD 531.00) respectively. Also, RES DAR SAADA slacked by 2.50 percent to settle at MAD 140.40.sa
