Morocco Equity Markets | 28 Oct 2015: Casablanca Bourse stock indices end higher, investors pocket US$87 million
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —On Wednesday, Casablanca Stock Exchange ended in the green district after stayed in the red for a day. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) advanced by 0.15 percent to end at 8,993.29 points (with a year-to-date performance to -6.52 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 453.794 billion (an increase of MAD 834 million or US$87 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 452.960 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 75,485 million compared to MAD 46.541 million recorded at the previous trading session.
In the same positive sentiment, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,341.63 points (lost 0.09 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index gained 0.45 percent to close at 7,710.61 points (-12.58 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index edged up by 0.07 percent to close at 7,551.24 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -6.32 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Beverages, Mining and Chemicals sector indices added 5.01 percent, 2.57 percent and 2.45 percent respectively. On the other hand, Leisure & Hotels sector index (sagged by 5.32 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 49.07 percent), Holding Companies sector index (fell by 1.64 percent to end at -22.41 percent year-to-date return) and Engineering & Equipment sector index (plunged by 0.65 percent to end at 279.90 levels).
Looking at the market price gainers and losers, the gainers’ were BRASSERIES DU MAROC advanced by 6.00 percent to close at MAD 1,961.00 and MINIERE TOUISSIT added 5.96 percent to trade at MAD 1066.00. COLORADO also surged by 5.25 percent or MAD 3.84 with a closing price of MAD 77.00 as well as SNEP surged by 3.09 percent to end at MAD 100.00. ENNAKL Morocco grew by 2.18 percent or MAD 0.84 to trade at MAD 39.30.
In the red region, RISMA and BALIMA slacked by 5.32 percent (to settle at MAD 173.00) and slumped by 5.07 percent (to trade at MAD 104.00) respectively. STROC INDUSTRIE and CIH also plunged by 3.59 percent (with a closing price of MAD 43.50) and dropped 2.78 percent (to settle at MAD 280.00) respectively. Also, DELTA HOLDING declined by 1.67 percent to settle at MAD 23.00.
