Morocco Equity Markets | 31 Aug 2015: Moroccan stock markets witness the bull, investor gains MAD 1.8 billion
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Moroccan equity began the week on a positive note at the end of Today’s trading session, hence the Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) jumped by 38.16 point or 0.41 percent to close at 9,345.70 points (with a year-to-date performance to -2.85 percent). The equity market capitalization closed at MAD 476.594 billion (a gains of MAD 1.8 billion) from MAD 474.827 market capitalizations recorded at previous trading session. The market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 37.829 million.
Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,642.40 points (a rise of 0.44 percent compared to previous trading session). Also, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index jumped by 0.15 percent to close at 8,232.48 points (-6.67 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index advanced by 0.49 percent to end at 7,844.85 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -2.68 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Construction & Building Materials, Transport and Banks sector indices surged by 1.74 percent, 1.69 percent and 1.16 percent respectively. Conversely, Beverages sector index (declined by 3.07 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -9.45 percent), Materials, Software & Computer Services sector index (declined by 1.25 percent to end at -1.61 percent year-to-date return) and Telecommunication sector index (crashed by 1.20 percent).
From the market price movers and shakers, the gainers were, CDM soared by 5.99 percent to end at MAD 520.00 and MAROC LEASING surged by 5.41 percent to settle at MAD 390.00. Likewise, LAFARGE CIMENTS jumped 2.74 percent or MAD 48.00 with closing price of MAD 1,798.00 as well as CIMENTS DU MAROC soared by 2.40 percent to settle at MAD 1,280.00. On the contrary, BRASSERIES DU MAROC and DISWAY tumbled by 3.65 percent to settle at MAD 1,927.00 and fell by 3.48 percent to end at MAD 183.30 respectively. Equally, AFRIC INDUSTRIES SA and S.M MONETIQUE plummeted by 3.45 percent with closing price of MAD 312.00 and plunged by 1.44 percent to settle at MAD 205.00 respectively.
