Morocco Equity Watch | 18 Aug 2015: Morocco bourse heads north … market cap MAD 61 million up
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) marginally gained 0.15 point to close at 9,497.82 points (with a year-to-date performance to -1.27 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 484.409 billion (a slightly gain of MAD 61 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 484.348) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 39.644 million.
Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,773.53 points (marginally increase of 0.01 percent compared to previous trading session). Also, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index surged by 0.35 percent to close at 8,425.02 points (-4.49 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index advanced by 0.35 percent to end at 7,991.99 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to 0.84 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Forestry & Paper, Engineering & Equipment Industrial Goods and Chemicals sector indices surged by 5.95 percent, 2.84 percent and 2.74 percent respectively. On the other hand, Real Estate sector index (plunged by 2.96 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -32.03 percent), Electrical & Electronic Equipment sector index (declined by 1.79 percent to end at -18.81 percent year-to-date return) and Food Producers & Processors sector index (went down by 0.76percent).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were, MED Paper advanced by 5.95 percent to end at MAD 19.06 and SONASID surged by 5.90 percent to settle at MAD 698.00. Likewise, DELATTRE LEVIVIER MARCO gained5.71 percent or MAD 12.00 with closing price of MAD 222.00 as well as MANAGEM rose by 5.16 percent to conclude at MAD 874.00. On the contrary, CGI and MAGHREBAIL sagged by 10.00 percent (to settle at MAD 469.80.00) and 5.14 percent (to end at MAD 664.00) respectively. Equally, INVOLYS and AUTO NEJIMA plummeted by 3.61 percent (with closing price of MAD 120.00) and 2.58 percent (to settle at MAD 1,700.00) respectively.
