Morocco Market Watch | June 10th 2015: Blood shedding on the Morocco equity market street marginally reduced today, indices down but market cap gains MAD 155 million.
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Blood shedding on the Morocco equity market street marginally reduced today. Morocco’s benchmark stock index (MASI Index) plunged by 0.03 percent to close at 9,593.00 points (with a year-to-date performance to -0.28 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 487.305 (added MAD 155 million compared to previous trading sessions market capitalization of MAD 487.150 billion) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 58.849 million (a rise of 69 percent from previous trading session of MAD 187.873 million). Equally, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,838.43 points (lost 0.07 percent compared to last previous trading session). However, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index surged by 0.14 percent to close at 8,421.76 points (-4.52 percent year-to-date performance) whereas FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index fell by 0.11 percent to end at 7,996.10 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to 0.80 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Forestry & Paper, Engineering & Equipment and Food Producers & Processors sector indices surged by 5.06 percent, 2.62 percent and 1.25 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Distributors (lost 1.75 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -3.02 percent), Mining sector index (declined by 1.41 percent and -7.99 percent year-to-date return) and Bank sector index (went down by 0.42 percent).
Looking at the market gainers and laggards, the gainers’ were, STOKVIS AFRIQUE Morocco gained 6.00 percent to end at MAD 27.56 and ZELLIDJA S.A Morocco advanced by 5.99 percent to settle at MAD 192.10. Equally, MAGHREB surged by 5.13 percent with closing price of MAD 119.95 as well as Med Paper advanced by 5.06 percent to conclude at MAD 15.98. Conversely, MAGHREBAIL Morocco, SONASID Morocco, MANAGEM Morocco and MICRODATA plunged by 4.47 percent (to settle at MAD 181.50), 3.32 percent (to end at MAD 725.10), 3.11 percent (with closing price of MAD 872.00) and 2.70 percent (to settle at MAD 2.70) respectively.
