Morocco Market Watch | June 16th 2015: Morocco equity market continued in negative region, down by MAD 37 billion
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market continued in the negative region. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (MASI Index) plunged by 0.74 percent to close at 9,543.63 points (with a year-to-date performance to -0.80 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 484.437 billion (lost about MAD 37 billion against previous trading session market cap of MAD 488.137) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 70.493 million. Equally, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,798.53 points (lost 0.80 percent compared to last previous trading session). Likewise, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index tumbled by 1.45 percent to close at 8,271.84 points (-6.22 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index fell by 1.17 percent to end at 7,914.77 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -1.81 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Engineering & Equipment Industrial, Chemicals and Materials, Software & Computer Services sector indices surged by 4.11 percent, 3.07 percent and 1.54 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Mining sector index (lost 2.61 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 7.92 percent), Telecommunications sector index (declined by 2.53 percent and -7.07 percent year-to-date return) and Utilities sector index (went down by 2.03 percent).
Looking at the market gainers and laggards, the gainers’ were, DELATTRE LEVIVIER MAROC grew by 9.45 percent to end at MAD 220.00 and SNEP Morocco advanced by 3.86 percent to settle at MAD 122.55. Equally, DISWAY surged by 3.86 percent with closing price of MAD 228.50 as well as SAHAM ASSURANCE advanced by 1.35 percent to conclude at MAD 1,050.00. Conversely, HOLCIM MAROC, REALIS MECANIQUES, MANAGEM and FENIE BROSSETTE tumbled by 5.96 percent (to settle at MAD 1,942.00), 5.83 percent (to end at MAD 210.00), 5.74 percent (with closing price of MAD 870.00) and 3.36 percent (to settle at MAD 122.10) respectively.
