Morocco Market Watch | June 19th 2015: Morocco equity market maintains uptrend … MAD 2.8 billion gains
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market sustained yesterday gains to end the week in positive region. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) increased by 0.51 percent to close at 9,581.36 points (with a year-to-date performance to -0.40 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 486.316 billion (gained almost MAD 2.8 billion against previous trading session market cap of MAD 483.526 billion) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 110.042 million (against previous turnover of MAD 74.552 million). Equally, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,830.10 points (added 0.53 percent compared to previous trading session). Likewise, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index added 0.39 percent to close at 8,365.95 points (-5.15 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index rose by 0.51 percent to end at 7,967.89 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -1.15 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Utilities, Construction & Building Materials and Holding Companies sector indices climbed by 2.18 percent, 1.64 percent and 1.33 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Electrical & Electronic Equipment sector index (plunged by 5.98 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -7.88 percent), Forestry & Paper sector index (declined by 3.03 percent to end at -42.51 percent year-to-date return) and Engineering & Equipment Industrial sector index (went down by 1.27 percent).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were, CENTRALE LAITIERE advanced by 5.97 percent to end at MAD 1,065 and FENIE BROSSETE surged by 5.81 percent to settle at MAD 129.20. Equally, LABEL VIE gained 3.50 percent (or MAD 42.00) with closing price of MAD 1,242.00 as well as CIH rose by 3.00 percent to conclude at MAD 319.80. On the contrary, NEXANS MAROC and STROKVIS NORD AFRIC stumbled by 5.98 percent (to settle at MAD 158.90) and 5.97 percent (to end at MAD 27.08) respectively. Equally, ALLIANCES and STROC INDUSTRIES plunged by 5.62 percent (with closing price of MAD 84) and 3.35 percent (to settle at MAD 85) respectively.
