Morocco Market Watch | June 4th 2015: Moroccan equity market indices end positive, add MAD 2.02 billion
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market ended in positive today. Morocco’s benchmark stock index (MASI Index) added 0.33 percent to close at 9,733.46 points (increased year-to-date performance to 1.18 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 494.598 billion (gained MAD 2.02 billion compared to previous trading sessions market capitalization of MAD 492.583 billion) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 70.165 million (a reduction of 22 percent against previous trading session of MAD 90.161 million). Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,967.11 points (lost 0.33 percent compared to previous trading day). Equally, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index climbed by 0.36 percent to close at 8,520.44 points (-3.40 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index surged by 0.30 percent to end at 8,119.16 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to 1.06 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Forestry & Paper, Leisure & Hotels and Engineering & Equipment sector indices gained 4.61 percent, 2.61 percent, and 1.87 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Chemicals (lost 2.39 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -39.69 percent), Materials, Software & Computer (declined by 0.31 percent and 3.69 percent year-to-date return) and Electricity sector indices (went down by 0.11 percent).
The market sentiment was positive today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) with 14 gainers and 10 losers. On the gainers’ chart, CENTRALE LAITIERE Morocco gained 6.00 percent to end at MAD 996.40 and JET Contractors Morocco advanced by 5.73 percent or MAD 11.00 to settle at MAD 203.00. In the same bullish mood, MED Paper Morocco surged by 4.61 percent (or MAD 0.71) with closing price of MAD 16.11 as well as STROC INDUSTRIE advanced by 4.11 percent to conclude at MAD 98.90.
On the bearish side, SNEP fell by 2.96 percent or MAD 3.85 with a closing price of MAD 126.15 to top the losers chart. At the same time, COLORADO Morocco shed off 2.67 percent to close at MAD 73.00 and ALLIANCES Morocco plummeted by 1.02 percent or MAD 1.00 to conclude at MAD 97.00. Likewise, ENNAKL Morocco and M2M Group Morocco went down by 0.99 percent and 0.91 percent to close at MAD 40.00 and MAD 195.50 respectively.
