Morocco Market Watch | June 5th 2015: Moroccan equity market ends the week on bullish mood, adds MAD 180 million today
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market ended the week on bullish mood. Morocco’s benchmark stock index (MASI Index) added 0.03 percent to close at 9,736.55 points (increased year-to-date performance to 1.21 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 494.616 (gained MAD 180 billion compared to previous trading sessions market capitalization of MAD 494.598 billion) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 49.739 million (a reduction of 29 percent against previous trading session of MAD 70.165 million). Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,969.83 points (gained 0.03 percent compared to previous trading day). However, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index fell by 0.33 percent to close at 8,492.39 points (-3.72 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index lose 0.27 percent to end at 8,124.55 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to 0.79 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Transport, Distribution and Materials, Software & Computer Services sector indices gained 1.78 percent, 1.51 percent, and 1.34 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Forestry & Paper (lost 4.35 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -44.63 percent), Holding Companies (declined by 2.18 percent and -10.69 percent year-to-date return) and Investment Companies & Other Finance sector indices (went down by 1.71 percent).
In respect of price movers’, S.M MONETIWUE Morocco gained 6.00 percent to end at MAD 185.50 and IB MAROC advanced by 6.00 percent or MAD 7.50 to settle at MAD 100.70. At the same time, LABEL VIE Morocco surged by 4.17 percent (or MAD 50.00) with closing price of MAD 1,200.00 as well as CIMENTS MAROC advanced by 3.18 percent to conclude at MAD 1,200.
On the bearish side, JET Contractors fell by 5.99 percent or MAD 12.15 with a closing price of MAD 190.85 to top the losers chart. At the same time, SONASID Morocco shed off 5.86 percent to close at MAD 753.00 and MED Paper Morocco plummeted by 4.35 percent or MAD 0.70 to conclude at MAD 15.41. Likewise, STROC INDUSTRIE Morocco and TOTAL Morocco went down by 2.64 percent and 2.59 percent to close at MAD 95.99 and MAD 599.00 respectively.
