Morocco Market Watch | May 28th 2015: Moroccan equity up by MAD 942mn today
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco’s benchmark stock index (MASI Index) return to positive today, by gaining 0.21 percent to close at 9,608.63 points (-0.12 percent year-to-date performance) with total market capitalization at MAD 483.835 billion (increased by MAD 942 million compared to previous trading sessions) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 45.516 million (a decrease of 83 percent relative to previous trading sessions market turnover). Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,854.31 points (advanced by 0.23 percent compared to previous trading day). In addition, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index marginally fell by 0.02 percent to close at 8,424.66 points (-4.49 percent year-to-date performance), however FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index surged by 0.18 percent to end at 8,033.10 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -0.35 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Leisure & Hotels, Holding Companies, and Materials, Software & Computer Services sector indices rose by 2.44 percent, 1.48 percent, and 1.10 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Chemicals (lost 2.06 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -39.00 percent), Food Producers & Processors (declined by 0.65 percent and 1.48 percent year-to-date return) and Electrical sector indices (lost 0.63 percent and 18.54 percent year-to-date return).
The market sentiment was positive today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) with 16 gainers and 14 losers. On the gainers’ chart, INVOLS Morocco gained 9,89 percent to end at MAD 145.35 and RES DAR SAADA Morocco advanced by 5.26 percent to settle at MAD 185.00. Also, AGMA LAHLOUTAZI Morocco surged by 4.64 percent with closing price of MAD 2,888.00 as well as RISMA advanced by 2.44 percent to close at MAD 214.10. While topping the losers’ chart were MAGHREB OXYGENE Morocco, ZELLIDJA S.A., CENTRALE LAITIERE, ENNAKL and ALLIANCES Morocco plummeted by 9.95 percent (to settle at MAD 116.30), 6.00 percent (to end at MAD 213.10), 6.00 percent (with closing price of MAD 940.00), 5.59 percent (to settle at MAD 38.70) and 5.04 percent (to settle at MAD 92.11) respectively.
