Tanzania Equity Markets | 1 Sep 2015 : Tanzania equity trading closes in red, indices fall and market caps
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Capital Markets in Africa — Equity trading at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange began the month of September on a bearish moods, after the equity market capitalization fell by TZS 20 billion (about US$9.1 million) to end at TZS 21,616 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 21,635 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) sagged by 1.49 points or 0.06 percent to end at 2,469.04 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index plunged by 6.16 points or 0.13 percent to close at 4,623.97 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index dropped by 14.43 points or 0.48 percent to settle at 2,965.79 points. Industrial & Allied sector index declined by 0.56 points or 0.01 percent to close at 6,267.25 points and Commercial services sector index sagged by 12.56 percent to end at 4,007.67.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,429.56 million from 3,434,263 shares traded in 148 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,220.55 million from 340,538 shares traded in 52 deals. CRDB had 3,415,315 shares traded in 31 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 7,800 shares in 15 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 325 shares in 5 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 1,688 shares traded in 55 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited traded 220 shares in 8 deals. Swissport Tanzania had 5,369 shares in 1 deal.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with no gainers and 6 losers. Swala Gas & Oil Tanzania Limited emerged as the top losers after falling by 9.91 percent with a closing price of TZS 550. Other losers were Mkombozi Commercial Bank sagged by4.76 percent at TZS 1,000.00, Swissport Tanzania Limited plunged by 0.40 percent to trade at TZS 7,480 and Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited plummeted by 0.26 percent to end at TZS 3,800. CRDB Tanzania closed at TZS 395 after a reduction of 1.25 percent. DCB Commercial Bank Tanzania ended at TZS 615 after falling by 0.81 percent.
