DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — On Friday, the equity market capitalization gained TZS 187 billion (about US$85.87 million) to end at TZS 21,054 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 20,867 billion recorded at previous trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share index (DSEI) advanced by 12.83 points or 0.54 percent to end at 2,403.58 points. Also, Tanzanian domestic Share Index lost 12.37 points or 0.27 percent to end at 4,611.29 points.
In term of the sector, the Banks, Finance & Investment sector remained unchanged to end at 3,099.88 points. Industrial & Allied sector index dipped by 0.41 percent or 25.58 to close at 6,158.12 points and Commercial services sector index increased by 25.11 points or 0.65 percent to close at 3,915.58.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 11,252.31 million from 3,243,573 shares traded in 83 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 2,107.36 million from 210,543 shares traded in 46 deals. CRDB traded 2,540,501 shares traded in 37 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 1,320 shares in 4 deals. Mkombozi Commercial Bank recorded at 6,300 in 4 shares. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 564,042 shares in 14 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company traded 100 shares in 1 deal and Swissport Tanzania Limited had 1,219 shares in 8 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Limited registered 104,491 shares in 10 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with five gainer and four laggards. Acacia Mining Limited added 4.93 percent to settle at TZS 7,450 and Kenya Commercial Bank grew by 2.27 percent to close at TZS 900. Jubilee Holdings Limited ended at TZS 8,100 after growing by 0.37 percent and East Africa Breweries Limited added 0.37 percent to end at TZS 5,360 and Swissport Tanzania Limited grew by 0.14 percent TZS 7,260.00. On the other hand, Tanga Cement Company Limited dipped by 10.83 percent to close at TZS 2,800 and Uchumi Supermarket Limited close at TZS 200 after falling by 4.76 percent. Tanzania Portland Cement Company slumped by 1.20 percent to end at TZS 3,300 and Nation Media Group ended at TZS 2,910 by dropping 0.34 percent.
