Tanzania Equity Markets | 17 Sep 2015 : Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity market returns to bullish sentiment
DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity market returned to bullish sentiment, market capitalization and All Share index higher. The equity market capitalization surged by TZS 261.63 billion (about US$120.8 million) to end at TZS 22,510 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,248 billion recorded at previous trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) rose by 30.07 points or 1.18 percent to end at 2,570.59 points. However, the Tanzanian domestic Share Index fell by 3.20 points or 0.07 percent to close at 4,613.85 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index remained constant to end at 2,980.38 points. Industrial & Allied sector index fell by 0.09 percent or 5.65 points to close at 6,235.45 points and Commercial services sector slumped by 4.19 percent to settle at 4,045.33.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 23,101.37 million from 2,067,266 shares traded in 67 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 80,677.41 million from 5,611,271 shares traded in 95 deals. CRDB had 555,505 shares traded in 16 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 3,840 shares in 11 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 1,503,780 shares in 31 deals. DCB Commercial recorded 920 shares traded in 3 deals. TWIGA traded 7 shares in 2 deals and Swissport Tanzania Limited had turnover of 2,713 in 6 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with five gainers and 2 losers. Tanzania Portland Cement Company slumped by 2.63 percent to settle at TZS 3,700 and Swissport Tanzania Limited plunged by 0.13 percent to close at TZS 7,570. On the other hand, Acacia Mining Limited (4.69 percent at TZS 8,260), Kenya Airways (4.35 percent at TZS 120.00), KCB Group (3.09 percent at TZS 1,000), Jubilee Holdings Limited (2.31 percent to close at TZS 10,620) and National Media Group (0.94 percent to settle at TZS 3,230.00).
