DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — On Tuesday, the Bull reappeared at the Tanzania Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange equity trading floor to pull into the North Pole. The equity market capitalization surged by TZS 21.9 billion (about US$10 million) to end at TZS 21,048 billion relative to a market capitalization of TZS 21,054 billion recorded at the previous trading session.
The Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share index (DSEI) declined by 3.19 points or 0.13 percent to end at 2,403.32 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index also went up by 2.93 points or 0.12 percent to end at 4,583.69 points.
From the sector viewpoint, the Banks, Finance & Investment sector index soared by 0.21 percent or 6.43 point to end at 3,099.88 points. Industrial & Allied sector index accelerated by 0.39 percent or 23.54 to close at 6,105.41 points and Commercial services sector index remained unchanged to end at 3,932.32.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 82.74 million from 145,417 shares traded in 50 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,960.74 million from 324,799 shares traded in 99 deals. CRDB traded 139,986 shares traded in 26 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 2,720 shares in 5 deals. Mkombozi Commercial Bank recorded at 300 shares in 1 deal. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 1,000 shares in 3 deals. Swissport Tanzania Limited had 1,070 shares in 13 deals. DCB Commercial Bank registered 1200 shares in 1 deal.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breath ended in neutral today, with four gainer and four laggards. Acacia Mining Limited added 1.38 percent to settle at TZS 7,340 and Tanzania Breweries Limited grew by 0.60 percent to close at TZS 15,090.00. National Microfinance Bank ended at TZS 2,810.00 after gaining 0.36 percent and East Africa Breweries Limited surged by 0.19 percent to end at TZS 5,410.
On the other hand, Uchumi Supermarket Limited traded at TZS 190.00 after dropping 5.00 percent, Jubilee Holdings Limited dipped by 2.72 percent to close at TZS 8,580, Nation Media Group close at TZS 2,910.00 after falling by 1.69 percent and Kenya Commercial Bank sagged by 1.09 percent to end at TZS 910.00.
