DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — The Tanzania Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange equity markets ended in mixed mood, All share index up, but market capitalization down. The equity market capitalization added TZS 81.13 billion (about US$37 million) to end at TZS 21,220 billion relative to a market capitalization of TZS 21,301 billion recorded at the previous trading session.
The Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share index (DSEI) advanced by 21.62 points or 0.90 percent to end at 2,422.22 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index sagged by 0.01 percent or 0.50 pointes to end at 4,572.40 points.
From the sector viewpoint, the Banks, Finance & Investment sector index sagged by 0.03 percent or 0.87 point to end at 3,115.80 points. Industrial & Allied sector index remained unchanged at 6,073.39 points and Commercial services sector index fell by 0.11 percent to end at 3,932.32.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 38,180.47 million from 2,602,906 shares traded in 35 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 952.11 million from 134,907 shares traded in 62 deals. CRDB traded 31,555 shares traded in 11 deals and Maendeleo Bank Plc exchanged 100 shares in 1 deal. Mkombozi Commercial Bank recorded at 400 shares in 2 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 2,509,136 shares in 11 deals. Swissport Tanzania Limited had 40 shares in 1 deal. Swala Oil & Gas Tanzania registered 61,630 shares in 6 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breath ended in negative today, with two gainer and three losers. Kenya Airways traded at TZS 120 after adding 9.09 percent and Kenya Commercial Bank grew by 1.10 percent to settle at TZS 920.00. On the other hand, Acacia Mining Limited traded at TZS 7,560 after dropping 1.76 percent, East Africa Breweries Limited dipped by 1.57 percent to close at TZS 1.57 and Jubilee Holdings Limited close at TZS 8,630 after falling by 0.23 percent.
