Tanzania Equity Markets | 25 Aug 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity trading down by US$24 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzania equity trading continued to stay in the southern region. The equity market capitalization lower by TZS 51.36 billion (about US$24.2 million) to end at TZS 22,300.11 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,351.46 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) slumped by 5.90 points or 0.23 percent to end at 2,548.23 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index plunged by 5.01 points or 0.11 percent to close at 4,589.00 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index sagged by 13.99 points or 0.48 percent to close at 2,909.49 points and the Industrial & Allied sector index remained unchanged to end at 6,246.32 points. Commercial services sector index gained 4.19 points or 0.11 percent to end at 3,936.52.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 2,401.22 million from 5,704,665 shares traded in 116 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 25,899.79 million from 3,753,244 shares traded in 53 deals. CRDB had 5,688,251 shares traded in 88 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 7,620 shares in 8 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 6,222 shares in 5 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 400 shares traded in 1 deal. Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited traded 2 shares in 1 deal. Swissport Tanzania had 1,000 shares in 5 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with 4 gainers and 2 losers. The laggards were East Africa Breweries Limited closed at TZS 5,940 after falling by 1.82 percent and CRDB Tanzania fell by 1.23 percent to end at TZS 400.
On the gainers’ chart, Jubilee Holdings Limited emerged as the top gainers by soaring by 1.42 percent with a closing price of TZS 11,450. Other losers were Acacia Mining Limited advanced by 0.95 percent at TZS 8,540, National Media Group surged by 0.55 percent to trade at TZS 3,670 and Swissport Tanzania closed at TZS 7,310 after growing by 0.14 percent.
