DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — The Bull appeared on the the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity markets after the equity market capitalization gathered about TZS 552 billion (about US$ 255 million) to end at TZS 22,225 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 21,763 billion recorded at previous trading session.
In the like mood, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) soared by 63.45 points or 2.56 percent to end at 2,538.08 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index also advanced by 6.08 points or 0.13 percent to close at 4,648.08 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index marginally added 0.01 percent or 0.44 points to settle at 3,009.67 points. Industrial & Allied sector index also rose by 0.18 percent or 11.04 points to close at 6,281.30 points but Commercial services sector index remained steady to end at 4,016.04.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 813.08 million from 1,944,310 shares traded in 58 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,167.22 million from 493,591 shares traded in 80 deals. CRDB had 1,931,848 shares traded in 25 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 2,840 shares in 7 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 2,730 shares in 4 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 1,852 shares traded in 18 deals. DCB Commercial Limited traded 4,950 shares in 3 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with seven gainers and 1 loser. Jubilee Holdings Limited ended at TZS 10.140 after losing 1.17 percent. On the other hand, East Africa Breweries emerged as the top gainers after adding 7.22 percent with a closing price of TZS 5,840 and KCB Group grew by 4.40 percent to settle at TZS 950. Acacia Mining Limited ended at TZS 8,220 after gaining 2.88 percent and National Media Group advanced by 2.77 percent to trade at TZS 3,340. DCB Commercial Limited surged by 0.82 percent to end at TZS 615.00, Tanzania Portland Cement Company share price close at TZS 3,800 after growing 0.53 percent and Tanzania Breweries Limited closed at TZS 15,130 after an increase of 0.20 percent.
