Tanzania Equity Watch | 03 August 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) fell by 23.93 points or 0.94% ….
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzania equities started the week and month on negative note, as a result the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) fell by 23.93 points or 0.94 percent to close at 2,527.45 points and the Tanzanian domestic Share Index declined by 5.35 points or 0.12 percent to end at 4,583.93 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index went down by 13.99 point or 0.47 percent to end at 2,992.54 points and Commercial Services sector index reduced by 0.11 percent to close at 3,949.09 points. However, Industrial & Allied sector index also remained flat to end at 6,178.32 points.
The market capitalization lost TZS 210 billion (about US$101 million) to end at TZS 22,114 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,324 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 462.59 million from 141,038 shares traded in 57 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 94.66 million from 180,763 shares traded in 39 deals. CRDB had 62,614 shares traded in 24 deals. National Microfinance Bank registered 59,840 shares traded in 12 deals and Swissport Tanzania Limited had 1,040 shares traded in 4 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 17,170 shares in 10 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with no gainers and 8 losers. Among the losers was Kenya Airways, which lost 8.33 percent to end at TZS 110 and Uchumi Supermarket Limited ended at TZS 135 after losing 3.57 percent. KCB Group also plunged by 2.94 percent at TZS 990 and ACACIA Mining Limited declined by 2.59 percent to trade at TZS 7.530. CRDB closed at TZS 390 after falling by 1.27 percent and Jubilee Holdings Limited plummeted by 1.01 percent to trade at TZS 11,305.
