Tanzania Equity Watch | 04 Aug 2015: Tanzania equities close on a bullish momentum…DSEI 0.44% higher
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzania equities closed on a bullish momentum, therefore the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) surged by 11.14 points or 0.44 percent to close at 2,538.59 points but the Tanzanian domestic Share Index declined by 23.01 points or 0.50 percent to end at 4,560.92 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index gained 13.99 point or 0.47 percent to end at 3,006.53 points but Industrial & Allied sector index reduced by 0.85 percent to close at 6,126.08 points. Commercial Services sector index also remained flat to end at 3,949.09 points.
The market capitalization rose by TZS 98.74 billion (about US$47 million) to end at TZS 22,213 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,114 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 93.44 million from 68,040 shares traded in 57 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 462.59 million from 141,038 shares traded in 57 deals. CRDB exchanged 38,776 shares in 15 deals, DCB Commercial Banks recorded 767 shares in 5 deals and MAENDELEO had 5.960 shares traded in 5 deals. National Microfinance Bank had 20,480 shares traded in 14 deals and SWISSPORT Tanzania Limited traded 633 shares in 5 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with 7 gainers and 2 losers. The losers were Tanzania Breweries Limited, which lost 1.27 percent to end at TZS 14,810.00 and Tanzania Cigarette Company ended at TZS 16,350.00 after losing 0.30 percent. However, Uchumi Supermarket Limited gained 3.70 percent at TZS 140.00 and Jubilee Holdings Limited advanced by 2.34 percent to trade at TZS 11,570. East Africa Breweries Limited closed at TZS 6,130 after surging by 1.91 percent and CRDB climbed by 1.28 percent to trade at TZS 395. Likewise, ACACIA Mining Limited and National Microfinance Bank added 1.06 percent at TZS 7,610 and 0.78 percent at TZS 3,860 respectively.
