Tanzania Equity Watch | 06 Aug 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange ends in green zone … market cap US$78 up
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) backed to green zone by surging by 18.54 points or 0.74 percent to close at 2,541.56 points but the Tanzanian domestic Share Index declined by 5.63 points or 0.12 percent to end at 4,560.42 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index significantly gained 935.93 point or 30.99 percent to end at 3,956.23 points and Industrial & Allied sector index added 34.80 points or 0.57 percent to close at 6,161.10 points. However, commercial services sector index plunged by 12.56 points or 0.32 percent to end at 3,932.34 points.
The market capitalization fell by TZS 163 billion (about US$78 million) to end at TZS 22,237 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,074 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 92.47 million from 118,008 shares traded in 59 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 519.79 million from 1,048,452 shares traded in 135 deals. CRDB had 102,295 shares traded in 16 deals and DCB Commercial Bank recorded 1,860 shares traded in 10 deals. National Microfinance Bank exchanged 10,716 shares in 14 deals and Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 770 shares in 6 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company had 1,000 shares in 2 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with 7 gainers and 4 losers. The four plungers were Kenya Airways, which down by 9.09 percent to end at TZS 100 and National Microfinance Bank ended at TZS 2,770.00 after decreasing by 3.48 percent. Likewise, Swissport Tanzania Limited plummeted by 0.41 percent at TZS 7,300 and Tanzania Cigarette Company closed at TZS 16.350 by gaining 0.30 percent.
On the contrary, Uchumi Supermarket Limited added 3.85 percent at TZS 135.00 and KCB Group gained 3.16 percent to trade at TZS 980. National Media Group closed at TZS 3,860 after advancing by 1.58 percent and East Africa Breweries Limited climbed by 1.14 percent to trade at TZS 6,190. Likewise, Tanzania Breweries Limited and ACACIA Mining Limited rose by 1.01 percent at TZS 14,950 and 0.92 percent at TZS 7,660 respectively. Jubilee Holdings Limited surged by0.52 percent to trade at TZS 11.630.00.
