Tanzania Equity Watch | 10 Aug 2015: Bullish momentum opens the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange today … Investors add US$159
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) continued on the positive path by adding 38.28 points or 1.50 percent to close at 2,596.40 points and the Tanzanian domestic Share Index advanced by 25.07 points or 0.55 percent to close at 4,571.83 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index fell by 934.57 point or 23.97 percent to end at 2,963.80 points but Industrial & Allied sector index added 1.60 points or 0.03 percent to close at 6,177.16 points. However, commercial services sector index remained flat to close at 3,932.34 points.
The market capitalization added TZS 333 billion (about US$159 million) to end at TZS 22,715 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,237 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded total turnover of TZS 375.56 million from 80,914 shares traded in 63 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 498.59 million from 107,773 shares traded in 44 deals. CRDB had 5,576 shares traded in 8 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 17,566 shares in 18 deals and Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 9,790 shares in 6 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company had 32,500 shares in 8 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 32,500 shares traded in 8 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with 6 gainers and 2 losers. The two losers were National Media Group, which down by 1.48 percent to end at TZS 3,670 and ACACIA Mining Limited ended at TZS 7,580 after decreasing by 2.19 percent.
On the gainers charts were, KCB Group surged by 7.92 percent at TZS 1,090 and National Microfinance Bank advanced by 2.99 percent to trade at TZS 2,760. East Africa Breweries Limited closed at TZS 6,420 after advancing by 2.39 percent and CRDB climbed by 1.25 percent to trade at TZS 405. Likewise, Jubilee Holdings Limited and Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited gained 0.0.61 percent at TZS 11,600 and 0.29 percent at TZS 3,410 respectively.
