Tanzania Equity Watch | 14 Aug 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange maintains uptrend … investors add US$39 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) maintained its positive runs at end of today’s trading session after surging by 9.52 points or 0.37 percent to close at 2,601.97 points. The Tanzanian domestic Share Index rose by 8.60 points or 0.19 percent to close at 4,611.56 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index advanced by 19.29 points or 0.66 percent to close at 2,942.77 points and the Industrial & Allied sector index surged by 2.73 points or 0.04 percent to end at 6,265.74 points. However, commercial services sector index remained flat to close at 3,932.34 points.
The market capitalization gained TZS 83 billion (about US$39 million) to end at TZS 22,767 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,685 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 230.43 million from 342,117 shares traded in 140 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 708.89 million from 59,461 shares traded in 53 deals. CRDB had 321,765 shares traded in 94 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 2,402 shares in 21 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 5,013 shares in 7 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company had 1,250 shares in 4 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 1,093 shares traded in 6 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with 5 gainers and 1 loser. The loser was Jubilee Holdings Limited which closed at TZS 11,730 after declining by 0.085 percent.
Acacia Mining Limited emerged as the top gainers by adding1.24 percent with a closing price of TZS 8,160. Other gainers were, National Microfinance Bank surged by 1.11 percent at TZS 2,730 KCB Group advanced by 1.00 percent to trade at TZS 1,010 and Tanzania Cigarette Company closed at TZS 3,770 after advancing by 0.53 percent. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited dropped 0.26 percent to close at TZS 3,790.
