Tanzania Equity Watch | 16 July 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock end in bearish … investors lose US$31 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) declined by 7.28 points or 0.28 percent to close at 2,606.06 points but the Tanzanian domestic Share Index rose by 0.86 points or 0.02 percent to close at 4,561.48 points. Likewise, the Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index and Commercial Services sector index remained unchanged to end at 3104.11 points and 3890.50 points in that order. However, Industrial & Allied sector index surged by 0.03 percent to close at 6,064.27 points.
The market capitalization was recorded at TZS 22,807 billion, by losing TZS 63 billion (US$30.6 million) against TZS 22,870 billion recorded yesterday.
On the market activity, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 958.67 million from 260,944 shares traded in 52 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 172.57 million from 413,024 shares traded in 47 deals. CRDB had 188,477 shares; Tanzania Cement Company Limited traded 50,000 shares and National Microfinance Bank recorded 16,107 traded stocks.
The market strength ended negative, with one gainer and three losers. Tanzania Portland Cement Company added 0.29 percent to end at TZS 3,440.00. On the other hand, KCB Group plummeted by 0.92 percent to end at TZS 1,080.00, East African Breweries Limited fell by 0.70 percent to conclude at TZS 5,690 and News Media Group tumbled by 0.52 percent to settle at TZS 3,800.00.
