Tanzania Equity Watch | 20 July 2015: Tanzania equities starts bearish … market cap loses TZS 650 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzanian equity markets began the week on bearish note. As a result the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) marginally declined by 0.07 points or 0.003 percent to close at 2,622.29 points and the Tanzanian domestic Share Index slightly fell by 0.31 points or 0.01 percent to close at 4,563.34 points. Likewise, the Commercial Services sector index plunged by 41.86 points or 1.05 percent to settle at 3,953.28 but industrial & Allied sector index added 2.62 point or 0.04 percent at 6.067.39 points. However, Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index remained unchanged at 3,097.68 points.
In the same mood, the market capitalization was recorded at TZS 22,951.71 billion, by falling TZS 650 million against TZS 22,952.36 billion recorded yesterday.
On the market activity, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 110.23 million from 179,248 shares traded in 71 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 235.54 million from 187,024 shares traded in 78 deals. CRDB had 174,550 shares; National Microfinance Bank traded 1,320 shares and Tanzania Breweries Limited recorded 2,400 traded stocks.
The market strength/breathe was neutral today, with 1 gainer and 1 loser. Tanzania Breweries Limited added 0.07 percent to end at TZS 14,510 but SWISSPORT Tanzania Limited lost 1.34 percent to trade at TZS 7,350.00
