Tanzania Equity Watch | 21 July 2015: Tanzania equities stay in red … market cap loses US$64 million and All Share index 0.56% down
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzanian equity markets continued on the southward journey. As a result the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) declined by 14.60 points or 0.56 percent to close at 2,607.69 points but the Tanzanian domestic Share Index rose by 56.99 points or 1.25 percent to close at 4,620.33 points. The industrial & Allied sector index advanced by 123.97 points or 2.04 percent to settle at 6,191.36 butthe Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index sector index lost 25.72 points or 0.83 percent at 3,071.96 points. However, Commercial Services sector index remained unchanged at 3,953.28 points.
The market capitalization was recorded at TZS 22,881.41 billion, by losing TZS 133 billion (about US$64 million) against TZS 22,951.71 billion recorded yesterday.
On the market activity, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,610.30 million from 256,544 shares traded in 65 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 110.23 million from 179,248 shares traded in 71 deals. CRDB had 143,120 shares; National Microfinance Bank traded 7,640 shares and Tanzania Breweries Limited recorded 101,200 traded stocks.
The market strength/breathe was neutral today, with 6 gainers and 5 losers. Kenya Airways added 7.69 percent to end at TZS 140.00 and Mkombozi Commercial Bank surged by 4.76 percent to trade at TZS 1,100.00. Also, Tanzania Breweries Limited increased by 3.31 percent to settle at TZS 14,900.00 and KCB Group advanced by 2.70 percent to conclude at TZS 1,140.00.
On the other hand, Uchumi Supermarket Limited emerged as the biggest losers after losing 11.76 percent to end at TZS 150.00. Other losers’ were News Media Group fell by 4.55 percent to end at TZS 3,780.00, ACACIA Mining Limited ended at TZS 8,180.00 by decreasing by 9.81 percent and National Microfinance Bank plunged by 1.34 percent to end at TZS 2,950.00.
