Tanzania Equity Watch | 24 July 2015: Dar es Salaam Stock returned to bull … Market Cap gains US$100 Mil
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange ended the week on a positive note. The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) surged by 23.84 points or 0.93 percent to close at 2,581.71 points and the Tanzanian domestic Share Index rose by 21.73 points or 0.48 percent to close at 4,540.77 points. Likewise, industrial & Allied sector index climbed by 36.70 points or 0.61 percent to settle at 6,065.23 and the Banks, Finance & Investment sector index advanced by 6.43 points or 0.21 percent at 3,039.81 points. However, Commercial Services sector index sagged by 0.21 percent to end at 3,953.28 points.
The market capitalization went up almost TZS 208 billion (about US$100 million) to end at TZS 22,589 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,382 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar es Salaam Stock recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,771.09 million from 148,676 shares traded in 44 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,163.03 million from 120,385 shares traded in 65 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited had 119,701 shares, out of which 115,351 shares traded at 14,510 per share in 1 deal on Pre-Arranged board. CRDB traded 18,100 shares and DCB Commercial Bank exchanged 5,656 shares.
The market strength/breathe was positive today, with 6 gainers and 2 losers. Tanzania Portland Cement Company surged by 7.19 percent to close at TZS 3,430 and Acacia Mining Limited gained 3.34 percent to trade at TZS 7,740. Likewise, KCB Group gained 0.89 percent to settle at TZS 1,130 and News Media Group rose by 0.78 percent to conclude at TZS 3,890. East African Breweries Limited price closed at TZS 6,000 by adding 0.67 percent. Also, National Microfinance Bank accelerated by 0.35 percent to trade at TZS 2,900.
On the losers’ side, Jubilee Holdings Limited and Swissport Tanzania Limited fell by 1.11 percent to end at TZS 11,580 and plunged by 0.27 percent to close at TZS 7,350.
