Tanzania Equity Watch | 30 July 2015: Tanzania equities move toward the north falls, market cap gains US$102 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzania equities moved toward the north falls, hence the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) added 24.88 points or 0.93 percent to close at 2,555.83 points and the Tanzanian domestic Share Index gained 35.56 points or 0.78 percent to end at 4,583.12 points. The industrial & Allied sector index surged by 39.68 point or 0.65 percent to end at 6,167.14 points and Banks, Finance & Investment sector index reduced by 1.30 percent at 3,006.53 points. Commercial Services sector index also remained flat to end at 3,953.28 points.
The market capitalization lost TZS 213 billion (about US$102.4 million) to end at TZS 22,363 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,150 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock recorded a total turnover of TZS 2,478.21 million from 215,137 shares traded in 56 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 171.37 million from 323,395 shares traded in 58 deals. On Pre-Arranged board, Tanzania Cigarette Company had 150,000 shares traded in 1 deal and 420 shares in others. CRDB had 54,730 shares traded in 14 deals. National Microfinance Bank recorded 2,206 shares traded in 11 deals. DCB Commercial Bank registered 200 shares in 2 deals. Swissport Tanzania registered 600 shares traded in 3 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited had 1,245 shares traded in 5 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with five gainer and six losers. Among the gainers was Acacia Mining Limited, which gained 4.59 percent to end at TZS 7,920 and National Microfinance Bank ended at TZS 2,870 by adding 2.14 percent. Tanzania Breweries Limited also surged by 1.42 percent at TZS 14,950 and East African Breweries Limited advanced by 1.20 percent to trade at TZS 5,920. Jubilee Holdings Limited closed at TZS 11,440 after advancing by 1.19 percent.
Kenya Airways was the top laggards with a price reduction of 14.29 percent at TZS 120.00. Uchumi Supermarkets Limited ended at TZS 140 after plunging by 6.67 percent, Tanzania Portland Cement Company tumbled by 1.16 percent to settle at TZS 3,410 and KCB Group fell by 0.95 percent to conclude at TZS 1,040. News Media Group also plunged by 0.81 percent to trade at TZS 3,680 and Tanzania Cigarette Company closed at TZS 16,400 after plummeting by 0.61 percent.
