Tanzania Equity Watch | 6 July 2015: Tanzania equity market opens the week bullish … DSEI gains 0.44%
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzanian stock markets opened the week bullish. The market capitalization added TZS 109.32 billion to end at TZS 23,221 billion relative to TZS 23,112 recorded at previous trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) gained 11.73 points or 0.44 percent to close at 2,652.81 points. However, the Tanzanian domestic Share Index dropped 14.85 points or 0.32 percent to close at 4,671.54 points. The Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index plunged 1.19 percent to end at 3,384.06 points. However, Industrial & Allied sector index marginally added 0.01 percent at 6,066.22 points but the Commercial Services sector index remained flat to close at 4,016.07 points.
From the market activity angle, a total turnover of TZS 207.76 million from 379,507 shares traded in 56 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,626.79 million from 3,803,627 shares traded in 69 deals. CRDB sold 371,679 traded shares; National Microfinance Bank had 3,970 shares and Tanzania Breweries Limited recorded 2,129 volumes.
The market sentiment ended positive, with 7 gainers and 3 gainers. Kenya Airways tops the gainers’ chart, by adding 7.14 percent to end at TZS 150.00. It is followed by KCB Group Limited, by gaining 0.91 percent to settle at TZS 1,110.00 and then TOL Gases Limited ending at TZS 650.00 after increasing by 1.56 percent. Also, Uchumi Supermarket Limited (added 12.50 percent to end TZS 150), East African Breweries (surged by 1.57 percent at TSZ 5,840.00) and Jubilee Holdings Limited (gained 1.52 percent to settle at TSZ 11,380).
On the other hand, News Media Group tumbled by 0.58 percent to end as biggest loser with closing price of KES 3,430. Similarly, Acacia Mining PLC fell by 0.11 percent at TZS 8,960.00 and CRDB tumbled by 2.44 percent at TZS 400.00
