Tanzania Equity Watch | 8 July 2015: Tanzania equity market remains bullish … DSEI gains 0.33%, market cap TZS 76 BN up
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzanian stock market was closed on Tuesday for Saba Saba celebration’s day and closed higher at end of today’s trading session. The market capitalization further added TZS 75.91 billion to end at TZS 23,297 billion relative to TZS 23,221 recorded at Monday’s trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) climbed by 8.73 points or 0.33 percent to close at 2,661.54 points. However, the Tanzanian domestic Share Index plunged by 32.00 points or 0.68 percent to close at 4,639.54 points. The Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index plunged 2.47 percent or 83.58 to settle at 3,300.48 points, Industrial & Allied sector index marginally went down by 0.03 percent at 6,065.05 points and the Commercial Services sector index tumbled by 0.10 percent or 4.19 point to conclude at 4,011.88 points.
From the market activity angle, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 884.68 million from 75,349 shares traded in 40 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 207.76 million from 397,507 shares traded in 56 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company sold 50,000 shares; SWISSPORT Tanzania Limited had 13,670 shares and CRDB recorded 4,110 volumes.
The market strength ended negative, with 4 advancers and 6 decliners. ACACIA Mining tops the advancers’ chart, by adding 3.35 percent to end at TZS 9,260. It is followed by KCB Group Limited, by gaining 2.70 percent to settle at TZS 1,140.00 and then TOL Gases Limited ended at TZS 660.00 after gaining 1.54 percent. Likewise, Jubilee Holdings Limited surged by 1.32 percent to settle at TZS 11,530.00.
On the other hand, National Microfinance Bank ended with price of TZS 3,330 by losing 3.79 percent to emerge at the top losers. News Media Group tumbled by 2.98 percent to end as second biggest loser with closing price of KES 3,910. Similarly, East African Breweries plummeted by 1.20 percent at TSZ 5,770.00 and Tanga Cement Company Limited went down by 0.26 percent to settle at TSZ 3,800. Other losers today were Tanzania Portland Cement Company and SWISSPORT Tanzania Limited dropping 0.29 percent and 0.13 percent at TZS 3,450 and TZS 7,490 respectively.
