Tanzania Market Watch | June 12th 2015: Tanzania equity market rises by TSZ 28 billion today…
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) rose by 3.31 points or 0.11 percent to close at 2,816.20 points and market capitalization recorded at TZS 24,657.47 billion (an increase of about TSZ 28 billion against previous trade session market cap of TSZ 24,629.50). Likewise, the Tanzania Share Index advanced by 4.70 points or 0.10 percent to close at 4,731.74 points.
Today, DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 49.07 million from 41,394 shares traded in 46 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 2,918.97 million from 361,151 shares traded in 83 deals. In term of investor type, foreign investors bought a total of TZS 4.29 million accounted for about 8.74 percent of the total market turnover. As a result, foreign investors were net seller and local investors were net buyers with turnover of TSZ 968.04 million.
The market sentiment was positive today, with 4 advancers and 3 decliners. EAST AFRICAN BREWERIES Tanzania gained 1.05 percent with a closing price of TSZ 6,750, New Media Group edged by 1.72 percent to close at TSZ 4,140 and Kenya Commercial Bank Group surged by 0.81 percent to trade at TSZ 1,240. Likewise, CRBD added 11.11 percent to end at TSZ 455.00 on 33,762 securities. On the other hand, Jubilee Holdings Limited tumbled by 3.20 percent to conclude at TSZ 11,480, ACA (Acacia Mining PLC) fell by 1.47 percent to close at TSZ 9,410 and Tanzania Cigarette Company declined by 0.06 percent to settle at TSZ 16,500.00.
From the sector perspective, Industrial & Allied sector index fell by 0.01 percent to close at 6,071.74 but Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index climbed by 0.39 percent or 13.99 points to end at 3,584.75 points while Commercial Services reminded unchanged to settle at 3,605.87 points.
