Tanzania Market Watch | June 15th 2015: Tanzania equity market on the rise today, adds TSZ 134 billion
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) rose by 15.40 points or 0.55 percent to close at 2,831.60 points and market capitalization recorded at TZS 24,791.46 billion (an increase of about TSZ 134 billion against previous trade session market cap of TSZ 24,657.47). Likewise, the Tanzania Share Index advanced by 63.76 points or 1.35 percent to close at 4,795.50 points.
Today, the market recorded a total turnover of TZS 4,042.58 million from 297,802 shares traded in 45 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 49.07 million from 41,394 shares traded in 46 deals. On Pre-Arranged board, Tanzania Breweries Limited counter had 205,587 shares traded at TZS 14,500 and 15,000 per share in 2 deals. In term of investor type, foreign investors bought a total of TZS 4,023.38 million accounted for about 99.52 percent of the total sales.
The market sentiment was positive today, with 2 advancers and 1 decliner. Tanzania Breweries Limited gained 3.38 percent with a closing price of TSZ 14,990 and Swissport Tanzania Limited edged by 0.15 percent to close at TSZ 6,530.00. On the other hand, CRDB tumbled by 1.10 percent to conclude at TSZ 450.00.
From the sector perspective, Industrial & Allied sector index gained by 2.11 percent to close at 6,199.92 and Commercial Services climbed by 0.12 percent to end at 3,610.06. However, Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index fell by 0.39 percent or 13.99 points to end at 3,570.76.
