Tanzania Market Watch | June 16th 2015: Tanzania equity market adds TSZ 61 billion and index up by 0.25%
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) rose by 7.60 points or 0.25 percent to close at 2,838.66 points and market capitalization recorded at TZS 24,852.67 billion (an increase of about TSZ 61.21 billion against previous trade session market cap of TSZ 24,791.46). However, the domestic Share Index declined by 26.26 points or 0.55 percent to close at 4,769.24 points.
Today, the market recorded a total turnover of TZS 5,093.49 million from 637,240 shares traded in 79 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 4,042.58 million from 297,802 shares traded in 45 deals. On Pre-Arranged board, Tanzania Breweries Limited had 260,399 shares traded at 15,000 per share in 2 deals. While CRDB had 87,154 shares traded in 41 deals and National Microfinance Bank recorded 11,380 shares traded in 5 deals. In term of investor type, foreign investors bought a total of TZS 4,928.46 million and sold TSZ 3,905.99 million.
The market sentiment was positive today, with 3 losers and 7 gainers. Swissport Tanzania Limited gained 4.13 percent with a closing price of TSZ 6,800 and Acacia Mining PLC Limited edged by 0.96 percent to close at TSZ 9,500. Equally, East African Breweries Limited climbed by 0.74 percent to close at TSZ 6,810.00 and KCB Group added 0.81 percent to settle at TSZ 1,250.00. On the other hand, Tanzania Breweries Limited tumbled by 1.60 percent to conclude at TSZ 14,750.00 and Mkombozi Commercial Bank plunged by 0.91 percent to end at TSZ 1,090.00.
From the sector perspective, Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index gained by 0.21 percent to close at 6,137.14 and Commercial Services climbed by 3.13 percent to end at 3,723.07. However, Industrial & Allied sector index fell by 1.01 percent or 62.78 points to end at 6,137.14.
