Harare, Zimbabwe (Capital Markets in Africa):-The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) Industrial Index closed trading down while the Mining index remained flat in trading today as it was unable to recover from previous days losses. The market capitalisation was also down by an additional US$7 million from it’s previous days trading.
The ZSE Industrial Index was down 0.19% a dip of 0.28 points down from its previous close of 145.63 to end at 145.35 (-10.71% year-to-date and -22.08% year-on-year basis).
The Mining Index however recorded no change to close on 39.36 points (keeping the year-to-date at -45.11% and year-on-year return at -58.44% respectively).
The market capitalization ended at US$3,812 billion down US$7 mill from the US$3,819 billion recorded yesterday. The market activity was mixed today with a turnover of US$ 0.415 million exchanged via 46 trade transactions.
In terms of Foreign Buys and Sales, Foreign investors bought US$133,999 against foreign sales which came to US$38,718 at the end of today’s trading sessions. Stocks which looked the most attractive and recorded the highest purchases by foreign investors were Innscor Africa limited (US$99,537 worth of shares at US$62.98), CBZ Holdings (US$29,850 worth of shares at US$9.95), CFI Holdings (US$1,988 worth of Shares at US$3.12), FBC Holdings (US$1,143 worth of shares atUS$7.00), Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited (US$977 worth of shares atUS$32.01 and Zimbabwe Newspaper (1980) Limited (US$213 worth of shares at US$1).
In terms of Volumes and value of trades, out of the 46 securities traded, NicozDiamond Insurance Limited registered 814,126,645 traded stocks at US$1.60 per share with a value of US$226,026 and CBZ Holdings Limited recorded volumes for today’s trading of 300,00 of it’s securities at US$9.95 per share to end with a value of US$29,850. TSL Limited recorded 174,817 at US$18.00 to end up with a value of US$31,467. Likewise, Innscor Africa Limited registered 158,044 traded stocks at US$62.98 per share with a value of US$99,536 and Dairibord Holdings Limited recorded 96,120 trades valued at US$7,690 priced at US$8.00 per share.
In terms of Stock price gainers and losers, the market was weighted towards the losers today as three securities ended in the green region and five ended in the red region. In the green zone were CFI Holdings Limited which increased by 0.52 points (+20.00%) to trade at US$3.12 cent and NicozDiamond Limited advanced by 0.24 points (+17.64%) to close at US$1.60 cents. Also registering an increase was Old Mutual Limited which increased by 0.29 point (+0.10%) to trade at US$274.50 cents
On the Losers side were Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited which was down by -0.84 points (-2.55%) to end at US$32.01. CBZ Holdings Limited was down by -0.05 points (-0.50%) to end at US$9.95 and OBritish American Tobacco Zimbabwe Limited was down by -5.00 points (-0.43%) to end at US$1,155.00 and Innscor Africa Limited was down by -0.02 points (-0.03%) to close at US$62.98 cents.
